Yesterday, Congress voted to repeal "Don't Ask, Don't Tell", a policy that has been in effect since I was twelve years of age. Another brick in the artificial wall that divides us--crumbles away.

The LGBT community has consistently been told they have no future for far longer than my short number of years.

We are not allowed to marry. Political and religious leaders tell us we are incapable of loving someone of the same sex; that it is not within human capacity. That we cannot adopt children with equal custodial rights and duties--that we cannot be a family. We have no provision for health benefits. We are refused access to dying loved ones, and rendered irrelevant in decisions concerning their well-being. We are told that we do not have the right to protect the ones we love because, in fact, we have no right to love them at all!

From early on we are taught those that "choose" this particular path are somehow less than human.

And what are we to make of this? The LGBT community, especially our youth, are at extremely high risk for drug and alcohol abuse, indiscriminate unprotected sex, other self-destructive behaviors and even suicide. Anything to distract from, lessen or simply obliterate the crushing pain of that blindside. Without a future, what does the damage matter?

I have to believe "that all men are created equal"; and that we will continue to forge a more perfect union. I have to hope that just maybe in my lifetime, I will witness the first LGBT generation to emerge in these United States of America that is not at a marked deficit before they even begin their lives.

One enormous step closer to removing the obstacle of serving openly in the military has been made. And making available the things that come with that: pension, healthcare, scholarships, teaching positions. Opportunity without fear of reprisal. This is a big deal on the list of inequalities that currently exist.

This did not happen on its own. Countless individuals have worked to make this change materialize. The American public has been made aware of our plight. Apathy, fear and ignorance have ever-so-slowly been replaced with understanding and reason. The understanding that united, we stand; and the reason that divided, we fall. I sincerely hope this is the sign of a sea-change in our culture. An unstoppable force that crashes through the barriers that have fractured our country for so long.

Thank you to each and every one of the servicemen and women that have been discharged under DADT, and to each and every one of those still fortunate enough to serve under the act. Thank you for defending your country even while its social and political policies would not defend you. Thank you for refusing to simply go away.

Thank you to everyone who has ever spoken out for any minority, especially when you knew it might cost something of your own. That those minorities may have hope and promise, not as a mechanism of survival in the face of adversity, but from the basis that they are, indeed, equal. Every American is charged with holding "these truths to be self-evident", and should want nothing less for each and every one of their fellow countrymen and women...

"Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness".

You know, just this morning while enjoying a bowl of oatmeal I thought to myself, "I wonder what amusing antics my coworker's kids have been up to as of late?"

I can only assume that's what you believe, at any rate. The gravity of the situation, in fact, is that I was pondering whether another thirty-second nuke would take the edge off said porridge, or if that risked the consistency of warm dog poo.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that, on any given Saturday, I'd rather be weighing the complexities of animal feces dancing on my palate than to listen to you stroke your paternal ego with your daughter's latest life-affirming moral victory.

Signed,
What-a-dick

Metric, to blatantly advertise yourself as a standard of measurement, you do a piss-poor job of utilizing the English language. Neither yours, mine, or anyone's heart is beating like an inanimate object (hammer). Your request for help is denied. Please kindly die.

Far, well you barely deserve an honorable mention, since you clearly stole this off of... (Nice use of power-chords to completely dumb down a melody, though! There was a reason you went away the first time. Take it personally and overdose.)

Daniel Wesley. Who the fuck let you out of detention, you little prick?! I don't know what laws you broke, but I know you broke them, so you're guilty. Pony was trite when Ginuine did it. (No, I didn't make that up to rhyme with a "sick" lyric. Look it up, player.) Pony was what we called our pricks in the second grade. It's not a secret anymore--all of the ladies know you have one. Just FYI, it will get bigger than a pony... but we'll save that discussion for after you've hit puberty. Oh, and just wait until I break it off inside you. You'll cry yourself to sleep every time you THINK about singing that lyric.

Hayley Williams of Paramore... WHOA, you make me want to cut my wrists, cuz I've heard all the whiny fucking WHOA'ing I can take! God damn, I haven't heard anyone drop the W-bomb like that since Hitler sold Keanu Reeves front-row tickets to the bombing of Hiroshima. (Wait for it... wait for it... Ahh!)

Chris Martin of Coldplay... Fuck me, stop stealing! That's your only warning before I send you a one-way ticket to the Empire of Hurt*. *(The Empire of Hurt is sponsored by the Betterment of the Human Race Foundation.)

And finally... M.I.A. I almost feel sorry for picking on you. But close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades. You've written this obscenity entitled Paper Planes. Now, I understand your desire for political lyricism, but seriously... sound effects as lyrics? You've degraded the ORIGINAL art form: music, to now include auditory images. You've removed individualistic interpretation from the oldest institution of freedom. Holy mother of god's second bowl of macaroni and cheese, not even YOUR Sri Lankan ancestors can save us from this!

Will no one stop the madness?!

Far away
This ship has taken me far away
Far away from the memories
Of the people who care if I live or die

Starlight
I will be chasing a starlight
Until the end of my life
I don't know if it's worth it anymore

Hold you in my arms
I just wanted to hold
You in my arms

I got a nudge from a good friend to make a post awhile back. So I am. I am sorry I've been absent and withdrawn. I've been a bit under the weather, mentally; despite Seattle's Spring kicking in. I have a doctor's appointment Friday morning. Hopefully this will all be sorted out. All for now; love you all.

Your claim to have "the freshest beer" concerns me. Beer cannot be fresh. You see, there's a whole process called fermentation that must occur before it becomes beer. This means things eat other things, produce alcohol, and die. (I'm trying to put this as simply as I can so you understand.) This takes awhile. (As in, days. That means it's not fresh.)

Otherwise, it is tea brewed with hopps. Which, by the way, tea leaves are also fermented before dried. This is called "brewing tea". (Tea for brewing, if you aren't following... are you following, or is this too much to digest?)

So what you have is fresh hopp tea. I realize you are only 131 years old, so I decided to be a good samaritan and give you the heads up before the public realizes they're not drinking beer, and you don't quite know what you're doing yet.

Bury it
I won't let you bury it
I won't let you smother it
I won't let you murder it

So no one bothers to lookup the entirety to lyric excerpts I post at headers to find out where I'm coming from. I don't blame you. I'm in a weird mood... usually am. I don't understand myself most of the time.

Now that you know I'm trapped
sense of elation
You'd never dream of
breaking this fixation

But I won't let you bury it, because I ain't done yet. Too many weird changes to write about on limited internet connectivity. Suffice it to say I am okay.

Raise your hand if you think evolution theory is incorrect.

Yes, you sir... Are you raising your hand because you think it's incorrect? Or are you showing off your opposable thumb?

Some of you won't get it, don't worry about it.

I am wired wrong
You don't see me
Or at least you see the tree

You'd better have restraints
better than these

Retention beyond me
Symmetrical retention
It won't hold someone broken

Hold one point down
until the other breaks
It will give

And I will leave it behind

Retention beyond me
Symmetrical retention
It won't hold something broken

We're ordinary people
Close but not the worst
But I think you know
Were all the lonely people
Alone but not at first?
But I think you know

Sometimes we don't have a life

Depressed: no. Contemplative: yes.

Things aren't always as they seem. Seemingly, this is quite the conundrum.

Equations are invented to try to solve the perceived imbalance. And somehow, despite our desire to know why, everything we don't know continues on as it always was.

And what's wrong with that?

I'm lazy, so instead of updating my website, I'm just going to post this here. A new poem written based on a dream I had. (Yes, this kind of stuff is always in my head... shocking, huh?) I'm not sure if it's more bizarre or creepy, but it is what it is. Hope you enjoy.

I drove Nate's car to work about 3 weeks ago. I left the lights on like an idiot (thanks, BMW, for not including an idiot chime for that, btw). I had a friend try to jump the car, but all we managed to get was sparks, fire and charred metal. Thanks, again, BMW for making the ground brown and the live black. The brown was mistaken for the live, so we fried the battery.

So, I got paid Friday. Saturday, the plan was for Nate to drop me off at work, go buy a battery and get the car back to his place. One problem. No car. Now, keep in mind I had been checking on the car every day I went to work. Nothing was posted on it. No chalk on the tires. No inquisitive email from anyone in the company about a car in the lot.

So I call security which was all-too-happy to tell me Dick's Towing (how appropriate) had towed the car on Tuesday morning after complaint from another employee. Of course, Tuesday is the start of my three-day-weekends, so we're now talking about 3.5 days of storage on top of it. Three hours and $445 later, we get Nate's car back. So now, the day after payday, between the two of us we have a whopping $5.

Thanks, dick! I'm so fucking thrilled you called security and had them tow a car in the care of a fellow employee from a parking lot that reaches only an eigth of capcity on its busiest of days. And it wasn't like I was even parked close. I hope you choke to death on your own vomit.

Anyways, I spoke with my manager and she's going to try and get me reimbursed since obviously the car wasn't in violation. And if they don't, well they just won't have an employee for the next 2 weeks. I'm on a quarter-tank of gas. Guess how long that will last.

I'm an official employee and I can park any goddamned car any-fuck-where I want in that lot. Pay up, fuckers.

Say your name
Try to speak as clearly as you can
You know everything gets written down
Nod you head
Just in case they could be watching
With their shiny satellite

It's official. The Great Destroyer is my favorite NIN song. Ever.

Listening to Nine Inch Nails through headphones while pulling a twelve-hour shift in a data center (solo, no less!) is not recommended. The beeps and buzzes are confusing to the point of paranoia.

ACK! What was that?!

I'm going back to my acid trip now.

shame on us
we knew from the start
may god have mercy
on our dirty little hearts
shame on us
for all we have done
and all we ever were
just zeros and ones

Update: I just saw a green storage box and it translated in my head as a person's shirt. Holy shit, that startled me.

We know of an ancient radiation
That haunts dismembered constellations,
A faintly glimmering radio station.
While Frank Sinatra sings
Stormy Weather,
The flies and spiders get along together,
Cobwebs fall on an old skipping record.

It's a sunny 77 here today, meanwhile the rest of the country freezes its nuts off.

What is that? I'm a dick? At least I can feel mine.

Soon the chain reaction started in the parking lot
Waiting to bleed on the big streets
That bleed out on the highways and
Off to others cities built to store and
sell these (plastic) rocks

So this isn't quite what Isaac Brock meant. I realize there's always a prevalent downside to any major city, but it's got to go. People drive like shit in Seattle, no matter where they're from. Locals are bad. Oregonians are worse. British Columbians are horrendous.

You people want to stop when the light is green, go when the light is red. You change lanes on the interstate going 55, while everyone else is going 75 (this almost caused me to be caught up in the accident created)... You run yield signs (this, as well, almost cost me my vehicle, if not more)... You don't yield to traffic when you're in a lane that ends (yes, this as well almost caused another collision)... You move straight forward in a lane that is explicitly declared left (This caused SEVERAL accidents a few feet from my front bumper). This has all happend to me in the past MONTH.

What is it with you people? Because most of you make at least $80k/yr you have no concern for anyone else who can barely afford the most basic of insurance? Fuck you. Until you all give me half of your paycheck this is what's gonna happen:

The next person that is 5 feet behind me while I'm doing 70 is getting the brakes, the horn, the finger (from anyone in the car with me) and then, once you pass me, I'm going to chase you down to where EVER you're going and beat the living shit out of you. And the beatings WILL continue until driving improves.

You're on notice.

Ouch. My brain hurts. Response from my coworker:

Top Four reasons that S. Korea kills animals to stop bird flu:
1. Kittens are evil and aren't fooling anybody
2. Any creature that craves stinkbait deserves to be drowned in air
3. The government ordered every possible answer to "why did the chicken cross the road" to be tested
4. AIDS

Well I spoke in binary and you for volume and dizzying length.
Woo-hoo! Woo-hoo! Woo-hoo!
Both halves are the better half like a joke trying to make another joke laugh.
Ha! Ha!
Stasis is what you bought.
Like a rickshaw getting pulled around by another rickshaw.

It's raining a mile up the hill, but not here. I think this is my only thought, currently. Of course I can't be sure of that, my subconcious is eternally chewing on something until at last it erupts to the surface. Then I realize I was unaware of part of myself for fifteen minutes. Still, the notion of a single, mundane thought is nearly as disconcerting as the torrent of random puzzles and musings usually present in my head. Maybe it's a defense mechanism my synapses have developed; shutting down and cooling off before I overload it.

Hmm, I guess I'm not thinking singly about the rain anymore.

Here's my response to [info]baeritone's post. This was a little difficult considering the letter involved, but I managed. (Like I expected something easy from [info]baeritone.)

The way this works is simple. I am going to describe the significance of 10 objects, ideas, emotions, etc... that begin with the letter assigned to me by [info]baeritone.

When you comment on my posting I will assign you a letter to do IF and ONLY IF you say you want one.

J

1) Jeering. There's nothing better than having fun at a friend's (or enemy's) expense.

2) Jugular vein. The ultimate way to kill someone. Really ruins your day, and that nice Banana Republic shirt you just bought.

3) Juice. No, I'm serious, I'm addicted. I eat sweets maybe 6 or 7 times a year, but juice is the shit. And pomegranite white tea.

4) Juxtaposition. I do this with my fingers alot. Addiction? Hmmm...

5) Jerking-off. Seriously, what's not to like about it? Goes along rather nicely with #4.

6) Jose Cuervo. Yum.

7) Justice. Trite, I know, but I love it when a self-important asshole bites it when someone calls him on his shit. Think it through first or keep your yapper shut. Oh, and I love clowning infants.

8) Jehosaphat. This is a cool name, and if you disagree, you're wrong. It's got the syllable fat right in it, and we all know how much I like fat (hairy) guys.

9) Jack-in-the-Box. Seriously tasty fast-food. In your face, east-coast.

10) Job. Something that I'm not currently a big fan of. However, I am working on that. A good friend of mine recommended I explore a career as a brewmaster. I will be ordering a homebrew kit soon.
